Di-Spark’s high precision machining innovation, expertise and investment in the latest leading-edge technologies make it a natural choice for inclusion in a new TV Programme on UK advanced manufacturing solutions.

Broadcasting details:

Sunday 19th May @ 11.30 (am) on SKY digital channel 212 and the BBC/ITV Freesat 401

Tuesday 04th June @ 19:00 on SKY digital channel 212 and the BBC/ITV Freesat 401

As a specialist, hi-tech precision machining sub-contract company, the Di-Spark Group is no stranger to making headline news.

The Di-Spark Group are one of the leading innovators and proponents of Electro-Discharge Machining (EDM) and multi-axis machining (5-axis milling and Mill-Turn) machining for the manufacture of high-precision complex parts. We have built a reputation in the market and in the sectors we serve (e.g. aerospace, defence, satellite, scientific, oil/gas, medical, motorsport etc.), for quality, cost-competitiveness and speed of delivery.

The Di-Spark Group has a progressive business ethos, continuous improvement programmes and ongoing commitment to best-practice. This has seen us become an Investor in People, work towards and commit to the AS 9100 (Rev C) quality management standard and implement SC21 (the aerospace and defence supply chain improvement initiative) across our operations, and this has generated interest and recognition on an increasingly wider global gamut.

Says David Light, managing director of the Di-Spark Group

“We were approached a couple of months ago by Executive Television/Collaborative Media to become involved and be a main contributor to a TV Programme on ‘Advanced Manufacturing’ that was due to be aired in May and June 2013 on Sky 212 and Freesat 410.

“The Programme, focusing on the experience of a small number of UK manufacturing companies (4 in total), was concerned with innovation and best-practice, and how companies can improve their competitiveness by investing in the latest and most advanced manufacturing technologies.

“the Di-Spark Group’s strengths and track record in all of these areas and our belief that ‘if you’re not moving forwards…you’re moving backwards’ made us an ideal choice for the Programme and we were more than happy to get involved.”

Here follows a transcript of the dialogue.

David Light, Managing Director.
“In order to remain competitive, Di-Spark constantly innovates with the latest technologies. And we see the VSD+ as a smart machine and a smart choice.”

Narrator.
“Success is in the details. That is certainly true of [the] Di-Spark [Group]. An eye for detail has given this UK production firm a sterling reputation.”

David Light, Managing Director.
“[The] Di-Spark [Group] are an engineering company. We produce precision machined components using advanced manufacturing technologies.”

“One of the machining processes that Di-Spark specialist in is electrical discharge machining, commonly known as EDM. This process uses the thermal energy of sparks to
cut through conductive materials. [The] Di-Spark [Group) always strive to use the latest technologies, stemming back 30 years ago when we were one of the first companies in England to use Electrical Discharge Machining, right up to the present day.”

Atlas Copco Narrator.
[The] Di-Spark [Group’s] 24/7 operation has fluctuating demand and this is mirrored perfectly by the Atlas Copco GA VST + range of compressors. [The] Di-Spark [Group] has made a smart decision for their operation and the environment when those chose the Atlas Copco GA VST+ Compressor.

Narrator.
Smart choices are important when you work for the kind of customers [The] Di-Spark [Group] work for. The precision components they make wind up in, sattellites, in race cars, on oil rigs and in aeroplanes.

Narrator.
Today, manufacturing is increasingly becoming a 24/7 activity. [The] Di Spark [Group] too, never sleep. Atlas Copco provide innovative yet solutions that don’t mind working through the night”
