But why use a Wire EDM subcontractor over traditional machining methods?

Technology & the drive for development have transformed traditional milling & machining into the impressive 5-axis machining centres that we know today, such as the Mikron Vario 600 machines at Di-Spark’s dedicated multi-axis machining cell. Mill-turn hasn’t escaped the technology drive either, with automated multi-task mill-turn centres, such as the Mazak Integrex J200 machines used within our Milling Cell. There are occasions however, where traditional machining gives way to alternative methods of manufacture. Wire erosion machining, also known as Wire EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) carries benefits for certain component requirements and can of course be combined with multi-axis traditional machining to achieve the ultimate in hi-tech, precision manufacturing.
